In the end, for people like me who are both offline and think Wikipedia one of the best products of the Internet, this is worth purchasing and using. Instead of clicking on “History” for example, one must hover over the “History” line and click to “Show” to the right. Wherever you go, you can browse Wikipedia, read books from the Gutenberg Library, or watch TED talks and much more even if you don’t have an Internet connection.

For free Kiwix is a browser that downloads, stores and reads copies of your favourite educational websites - Wikipedia, TED talks, Stack Exchange, and thousands more in dozens of languages. Store any website on your mobile phone or computer, easily. On the negative side (and this is minor) the left-hand navigation pane is a bit clumsy. Imagine being able to store the entirety of Wikipedia on your phone, and browsing it anytime, anywhere, even when there is no connectivity. At the moment, the only way I know to access the external links is to copy the link and paste it into a browser (but I admit I haven’t researched this). But it’s the footnotes that I value most.

However, I learned that (if you are online) for any given page in Wikipedia, under the “Article” menu, you can choose “Update Article," and it will refresh the page with current content (any additions/deletions to the text, along with hyperlinked footnotes, and illustrations). Physics Wallah Private Limited, commonly known as 'Physics Wallah' or 'PW', was founded in 2016 as a YouTube Channel by Alakh Pandey, an educator hailing from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Every wiki is a separate Git repository, so you can create wiki pages in the web interface, or locally using Git. Not an expert in the finer points, I was disappointed at first because the pages lacked the hyperlinked, footnoted references, one of the strengths of Wikipedia. Using only the English, but frequently since I have no Internet at home, I can say this is a worthwhile compilation of WikiPedia.
